Tutorial – Trolls

So the fuss is all about the upcoming movie Trolls!
And to feed the hype and probably the MANY cake requests to come (haha), I made a tutorial of Poppy one of the main characters.

Let me point out a couple of things that are important when making this character.

The head is VERY heavy so I decided to use a styrofoam ball as core, if you want to make it bigger then Rice Krispie treats are also a perfect choice.
You must also be sure that the character and the skewers inside are very straight or your figure will fall over.

I used 100% Cake Dutchess Modelling paste, which is really perfect for things like the hair.

If you have any questions, please ask!

This is tutorial is great! I plan to make this in the next couple of days for a birthday party on Saturday.
I was able to buy Cake Dutchess Modelling paste here in Australia, though not the Cake Dutchess gel colours.
I have Cake Craft colours: https://www.amazon.com/Cake-Craft-Coloring-Kit-GREAT-BUTTERCREAM/dp/B017OAJ0W2
I was planning to do the following –
    Pure Teal: Dress, flowers
    Rosy Pink: Body
    Funky Fuchsia: Hair, nose
    Rustic Green: Head band

Would this be right? Any help on colours would be very much appreciated.

    Thank you!

      Hi Jacqui,

      Thank you so much!!

I don’t have experience with Cake Craft colours but I think you are on the right track!

Maybe mix in a little bit of skin tone colour for the body to tone it a bit down, else it will be too pink I think!

      Good luck!
